An Emerald City Celebration: Cassie + Austin

When there’s an endless list of things you love about Seattle, it can be hard to share them all. Cassie and Austin relocated to the Emerald City for their careers and are a PNW couple to the core. With friends and family traveling for their wedding, they wanted to show their loved ones just a sliver of the many unique aspects that makes their city a special place. Follow along to see how we helped curate their thoughtful celebration.

OUR TAPESTRY COUPLE.

Cassie and Austin met in the heart of the city and immediately started sharing their favorite spots with each other. From restaurants, to arcades, to day-to-day errands, the two found that they had fun doing almost everything, as long as they were together. Cassie admired Austin’s geniality and Austin was smitten by Cassie’s sense of humor. The two fell in love on a holiday trip down to Portland two months after they had met. They quickly realized that they were in it for the long run with each other by the way they were so quick to unveil their true selves. When you meet the right person, it’s almost like you're more yourself than you were before you met them.

Marriage was always in the cards for Cassie and Austin, and they started having the conversation early on. After about a year together, they had moved in with each other and started getting serious about setting a date. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, planning a wedding seemed pretty unrealistic at the time. However, they were ready for that next step together and were done putting their life on hold. Austin and Cassie were fully prepared to make the needed sacrifices so they could finally tie the knot.

Cassie and Austin sought out their planner with strong intentions and great communication at the top of their list. They loved the fact that Tapestry was so transparent with their work and set realistic expectations from the beginning. The planning process isn’t always rainbows and butterflies, especially during a pandemic, and we admire couples who come into the process with flexibility and open-hearts. We had Cassie and Austin’s full support when it came to tailoring this experience. We worked together as a team to strategically hire vendors, plan timelines and coordinate venue walk-throughs with our full planning package: The Whole Shebang.

LOCAL. LOCAL. LOCAL.

As we mentioned earlier, Seattle is at the epicenter of this celebration. We wanted to highlight what Seattle meant to them and how it’s shaped the couple they are today. As a team, we created a website for their visiting guests with personalized maps! These maps included places to eat, local activities, and a guide to the entire PNW area based on Cassie and Austin’s favorite experiences.

We put together a large vendor team just to make sure we covered all the bases. The venue of choice was the one of a kind, Georgetown Ballroom. This timeless space exudes elegance and class, whilst still giving you that special city vibe. A perfect match for Cassie and Austin!

As we got set up for the day, we utilized multiple rental companies to create custom displays so we could include as many memories and milestones from their relationship as possible. Cassie and Austin had also hired ShutterBusCo, a photobus that sends you a photobook of all your guests afterwards, how cute!

One of the biggest standouts of this event was the dessert table. The couple chose sweet treats from their first three dates together which included: Salt & Straw Ice Cream, Blue Star Donuts and Theo’s Chocolate. We ADORE them and their sweet tooth.

THE WEDDING DEBUT.

With the many moving parts, it was finally time for it to all come together. Guests began to make  their way to the venue. The ceremony was sweet and simple, equipped with a HILARIOUS officiant. Reverend Ray Van Winkle had everyone laughing and complemented Cassie and Austin’s laid back personalities.

After the ceremony, guests shared a quick cocktail hour before the groom made his grand entrance. As a surprise to many, Austin is actually a pro at playing the Sax-A-Boom and gave us all an unforgettable show. Don’t know what a Sax-A-Boom is? Here’s a little clip to help you get the picture, courtesy of the one and only…Jack Black:

Dinner was served onsite by the Georgetown Ballroom staff followed by a round of toasts. Following a sweet dance between Cassie and her father, as well as the couple’s first dance, family and friends made their way out to the dance floor. We can thank Austin’s performance for getting everyone’s blood pumping! Austin and Cassie grabbed some last minute golden hour photos before sharing a midnight snack with everyone. As the night came to an end, we can’t emphasize enough how extremely personable this couple was. Everyone felt so present and immersed in this experience that Austin and Cassie had curated; it was super beautiful to witness.

A QUICK REFLECTION.

As much fun as it was planning with Cassie and Austin, we are so sad that it’s come to an end. This stellar couple makes an incredible team and we have no doubt that they will continue to share their love and kindness within their community. As we took on this journey together, we saw so many firsts for them. From buying a house, employment changes, and witnessing so many new chapters in their lives, we are so honored that we got to walk alongside them. As Seattle-based wedding planners, we love sharing our city with the world and it was awesome to share these same values with this lovely couple.

Want to create an experience that reflects you? From Downtown Seattle to the PNW countryside, we got you covered. Talk to a planner and see how we can help you curate a unique celebration to be shared by your chosen community.
