Rattlesnake Ridge Elopement: Andria + Patrick

The heart of this shoot was inspired by the big scenic views on Mt. Rainier. What does an epic, adventure-loving couple do on the day of their elopement? What do they bring? Where do they go to say their vows?

These were the impetus to a beautiful shoot that ended up on Rattlesnake Ridge. Snow levels on Mt. Rainier in March meant that the adventure would be snow shoeing one, and the aesthetics at large were not aiming for a cold, exhausting day. Kate of Tapestry Event Co. and Jessika of Jessika Christine Photo adapted with grace to what ended up being a breathtaking shoot in the Central Cascades.

OUR PNW COUPLE.

Andria and Patrick are a goofy couple whose high spirits and happy-go-lucky attitudes made the day a breeze. Throughout their relationship, they have been just the adventurers Kate and Jessika envisioned for this shoot. Their favorite story is from when they went to Ladner Creek Trestle and were encountered with a rickety bridge. Despite his hesitancy, Patrick completed the hike and got the epic shots they were going for by crawling across the bridge. Patrick’s willingness to push himself and become the adventurer he could be showed Andria how much he loved her. This intense commitment to each other, their desire to care for each other, and excitement to take up any challenges that came their way was on full blast in early March.

THE ADVENTURE BEGINS.

The morning of their newest adventure, make-up artist LiSun went to their house to prep them for a day of adventure sprinkled with glamour. Andria then met Elise in downtown Seattle for her hair at her studio. After they were looking just right, Patrick and Andria hit the road to North Bend to meet the rest of the team at Rattlesnake Ridge.

When they first arrived, rain was pouring on the team. Alleshia of Wildly on Flower hung out with the couple while Kate, Jessika, and Jessica of Jessica Heron Images scouted shots and created a timeline for when the lighting would be best in those places, hoping the rain would pass quickly. The team found an incredible tree trunk that overlooked the pond to capture the epicness they were looking for. They brought everyone together to take the photos there that highlighted the majesty and glory of Pacific Northwest forests.

THE INTREPID VENDORS.

Once in the trailhead, Kate brought out all the accessories that make an elopement fun, comfortable, and memorable. For one, there was a lightweight wool picnic blanket that was waterproof on one side, so that you can put it on the forest floor without worrying about it getting damaged. She also brought camp-friendly dishes, silverware that attach to a carabiner, and upscale trail snacks. All of these items are super easy to pack and lightweight enough to slip into a backpack for an elopement day. The couple were able to easily snack on some of the upscale trail foods Kate brought, as well as the custom made s’mores flavored caramels from Candice at Eat More Cake.

To round out the shoot, Chloe Clarke created handmade pieces that would be valuable in any elopement no matter if it’s at a forest, beach, or coffee shop. She created embossed coasters, leather bound vow notebooks, and gorgeous announcements that couples could send out after eloping. The deep and natural tones evoked the Pacific Northwest in their elegance and understatedness. They were complemented perfectly by the calligraphy done by Letters by Ellen, a handwritten touch to an intimate day that could later be shared with friends and family.

Alleshia from Wildly on Flower brought in some beautiful peach tones that only elevated the natural browns of the stationary, not to mention the forest around them. Originally from the east coast, her interest in doing more work in the Pacific Northwest serendipitously made her available to contribute to this shoot. Her east coast style with local florals created a beautiful bouquet of peaches, texture, and big blooms.

Throughout the shoot, Andria and Patrick continued to joke around and make each other laugh. Their love was celebrated and made clear through the tender glances and joyful expressions Jessika flawlessly captured. They happily threw goldfish at each other, created dramatic shadows, and looked soulfully into each other’s eyes as their love exists in all of these planes. Kate and Jessika collaborated on the types of photos they would take and developed the flow of the day together. Jessica and Jessika worked flawlessly together creating angles and framing to capture the most authentic expression of each moment.

Unique to this project, Kate brought in the work of KindredLooms to create a gorgeous handwoven statement jacket. A piece like this is both practical for the cold and rainy weather of Seattle as well as a one-of-a-kind art piece that reflects the preciousness of a elopement day. Kate and Kira collaborated on the pallet so that this jacket would compliment the tones of the gown, the stationary and flowers, and the forest they would be in. The jacket layered beautifully on top of the Rue de Seine bohemian gown (which was a great gown to hit the trails in!). Andria wore her own hiking boots.

The Tapestry Team was thankful for such a fun experience that reflected the way many elopements go. Mother Nature doesn’t listen to plans, but we were able to capture her beauty and create a beautiful day by listening to her. We thank Andria and Patrick for being such a lovely couple to work with as well as the vendor team for creating such a gorgeous atmosphere. We can’t wait until we can all work together in person soon!
