A Cozy, Restaurant-Inspired Wedding in Seattle
When Sam and Colin began their wedding planning journey, their goal was simple: create an authentic, intimate celebration that felt uniquely them. With a shared love of beer, live music, travel, and food, their vision revolved around a cozy dinner party vibe that meaningfully brought their loved ones together at Dockside at Duke’s. Tapestry Event Co. was thrilled to help them craft a wedding that balanced intention, warmth, and fun—a reflection of their life in Seattle.
Celebration Rooted in Connection
Sam and Colin are laid-back, adventurous souls. Their weekends often involve spur-of-the-moment trips across the Pacific Northwest, scouting out the best concerts, and curating lists of must-visit restaurants wherever they go. After moving to Seattle two years ago, they fell in love with the city’s vibrant food scene, breathtaking landscapes, and welcoming culture.
For their wedding, they wanted to share these elements with their loved ones (just like our China Harbor wedding!), many of whom were traveling from the Midwest and experiencing Seattle for the first time. The day wasn’t just about their union—it was about merging their families, friends, and worlds into one unforgettable weekend.
Why Tapestry? Authenticity at Its Core
Sam and Colin were drawn to Tapestry Event Co. for our focus on authenticity and intentionality. Which we love to showcase in all types of designs. As they put it:
"We wanted to feel like active participants in our wedding day, not performers."
The couple’s pragmatic and collaborative approach made the planning process enjoyable and highly personalized. Over 1.5 years, we collaborated to curate a wedding that stayed true to their laid-back personalities while weaving in cultural and regional touches. We do this with all our couples to make it the best experience for them and their guests. From brainstorming sessions to finalizing decisions, the planning was filled with thoughtful moments and opportunities to balance practicality with creativity.

Planning with Intention
One of the joys of working with Sam and Colin was the spacious timeline we had to plan their wedding. This allowed us to:
Evolve Their Ideas: With plenty of time to dream, we refined their vision for a restaurant-inspired celebration that prioritized guest experience.
Balance the Budget: Thoughtful planning ensured we could include personal touches and splurges where it mattered most.
Share Seattle: We incorporated their love of the city by curating a weekend itinerary for out-of-town guests, ensuring they got a taste of Seattle’s charm.
Their focus on quality over quantity created a celebration that felt as intimate as a family dinner while still accommodating a larger guest list.
Highlights from the Wedding Day
Desserts Worth Raving About
Filipino-inspired treats from ‘Ālewa Bakeshop and Puffy Pandy stole the show with their rich flavors and presentation. The cake, mini cupcakes, and macarons were a delightful nod to Colin’s heritage, blending sentimentality with indulgence.
Stunning Florals by Phosphorous
Phosphorous created lush, contemporary floral arrangements that perfectly complemented the cozy-yet-elevated atmosphere of the venue. This is why we love working with vendors we trust, they always show up and awe us and our clients.
A Dance Party to Remember
Integral brought the energy to the reception, creating a dance floor that stayed packed all night. Having a good DJ at your wedding makes a world of difference.
Thoughtful Design
Every element of the day, from the minimalist table settings to the curated playlists, reflected Sam and Colin’s personalities and priorities. Their wedding felt deeply personal—a true reflection of who they are. It was made possible at Dockside at Duke’s, a great venue on the Seattle waterfront.
Reflections on the Planning Process
In their own words, Sam and Colin had this to say about working with Tapestry:
"Kate is a dream to work with! As someone who loves planning, I wasn’t sure if we even needed a wedding planner—but Kate proved to be an invaluable asset. She helped us stay grounded, prioritize what mattered, and navigate every curveball with ease. On the day of, the Tapestry team handled everything beautifully, letting us fully enjoy the moment."
