What is an Adventure Elopement?
We are in the business of elopements because of the amazing adventures we get to construct for couples on their marriage day. For couples who love the outdoors or traveling to amazing places, experiencing a new adventure is the perfect way to mark their first day of marriage. We love being able to facilitate that passion, curiosity, and ceremony to make sure their days are hassle free and unique to them.
ELOPEMENTS TODAY.
Elopements are commonly understood today as a marriage ceremony that the couple has privately with their officiant, frequently with a photographer and their assistant or a close friend as a witness. They can take place anywhere and most any time. Adventure elopements are elopements that are specifically designed as just that: an adventure! They are all-day affairs that highlight the values or experiences that the couple wants to share as they move into their marriage. They make a momentous day even more fun and memorable.
Adventure elopements aren’t for everyone! We totally get that. Many on our team have had (or have planned to have… I’m looking at you, COVID) our own big wedding with music and a party. But for some, the special part of a wedding day is the ceremony, the moment of pause between them and the love of their life, and the ability to expand that experience throughout the day. During COVID-19, adventure elopements have become even more popular. Many couples who might have had a wedding before are now unable to do so and are looking for a way to still make the day stand out and be meaningful. Adventure elopements create an entire experience around your ceremony. (They also usually turn out some pretty awesome photos!)
EXAMPLE ADVENTURE ELOPEMENT ITINERARY.
Most adventure elopements last one to two days. An example itinerary would look like this:
Day Before:
Travel to general location of ceremony
Day-Of
Hair and makeup travels to couple
Couple enjoys their morning
Couples meets up with planner/photographer/florist/friends/officiant heads out on the hike to their ceremony spot
Couple arrives at ceremony spot and changes into their wedding clothes
Couple gets married
All present toast the couple and lots of photos are taken
Planner hikes to next spot to set up a picnic with delicious snacks
Couple hikes over to picnic spot, takes photos, and spends time together
Couple takes sunset photos
Couple heads to wherever they are sleeping that night
Within this itinerary there is lots of room for specificity and customization. Do you hate hiking but love the views? No problem, we will find a location that’s got a short walk for a big benefit. Do you want to camp out under the stars? Great! We will get you situated in the campsite or park that will perfectly suit your needs. “We hired Kate for officiating services and I can’t say enough wonderful things about her. We had a very…unique planning experience as we had a full wedding planned in KY and had to cancel due to our venue breaking our contract just 30 days prior to our original wedding date. Panicked would have been an understatement, so we decided to elope on our Honeymoon in WA! Kate was a huge blessing when we ultimately decided that we were going to have an intimate ceremony at Artist Ridge. From the first telephone conversation I knew that we were a good match- Kate has a huge laugh, an open heart and a beautiful personality that shines through in her work. Since we were eloping, she allowed those we loved to contribute to the ceremony and that meant the world to us. Our ceremony felt as though a dear friend was bringing us together and its because Kate took the time to get to know us and our friends and family during the planning process. On the day of our wedding, we invited her to bring her husband along too- we loved getting to know Kate, and felt having her husband would be an extra blessing to our day- and we were right! Kate and Nick were a great team in helping our photographer (who is also from KY) hike up to the ceremony spot (our photographer is so talented- but hiking is not in her skillset) and he brought along good stories and laughter to our group along the hike. All-in-all, hiring Kate was one of the best decisions we made while planning our wedding and I would recommend her 1,000 times over.”
“Kate did a fantastic job with planning for our elopement! We had to change our original wedding plans at the last minute due to COVID-19. Kate helped us to create a beautiful small ceremony on top of a mountain with close friends. We are both busy professionals and were lucky to find Kate. Though she wasn’t available to be there in person as she was already booked for another event that day, her services were invaluable for us. She orchestrated all the details of the day so that we didn’t have to. She scouted the perfect location, coordinated our vendors, and styled an amazing mountain-top picnic. Would highly recommend!”
