FREQUENTLY
ASKED
QUESTIONS

+ DO YOU PLAN ELOPEMENTS NOT IN NATURE?

We sure do! Our process is not solely for those looking to elope adventurously (though our PNW backyard certainly lends itself to that kind of scenery). Some of our favorite elopements have been city-based excursions. Our very first planning meeting dives into choosing a location that is the right fit for your interests and values. We believe in tailoring an epic elopement day to your desires, wherever that might lead us. We are planners and community builders first, travelers and adventurers second.

+ What budgets do you typically work with?

An elopement budget can vary in scale depending on how many services you’re hiring. Our services are best leveraged with budgets of $15,000 and above for Pacific Northwest adventures. That $15,000 typically covers the cost of planning and coordination, photography, two personal floral items, hair and makeup, officiating, and accommodations/travel. Often, our couples opt to add services like videography, catering and dessert, or other decorations and rentals. We find that $25,000 is a healthy budget for any Pacific Northwest elopement and that we can scale up depending on where your vision and financial priorities rest. For destination locations, we recommend a budget of $35,000 or more to cover the increased cost of travel for you and your vendors.

+ What is the difference between an elopement + an intimate wedding?

A great question! TLDR: We define an elopement as just two people plus up to two witnesses.

Depending on who you ask, you may get a different answer. That’s because there is no “industry standard” definition and, with the accelerated boom of elopements in 2020, many new service providers jumped in with a borrowed definition. The key distinction to our planner brains is that an elopement doesn’t require a large effort at managing guest attendance and communication. That is one of the biggest benefits of eloping — you can stay focused on just the two of you without having to take an entire group of guests into consideration! If that’s you, then we’d love to see you fill out an elopement application. If you are bringing guests along on the adventure, then we recommend bopping over to our Weddings page. We pride ourselves on planning weddings of all sizes and our Partial Planning package is the most popular fit for our friends hosting intimate sized affairs.

+ What if we want to bring a few guests on the adventure?

We think that's great! If your guests are a low-key addition who are along for the elopement ride with the two of you, then we simply charge an additional fee per head to cover the cost of our time spent managing additional attendants. That fee is $100 per person for Pacific Northwest elopements and $300 per person for destination elopements. If inviting guests means that your elopement transitions to a small wedding--often including invitations and guest management, a more involved reception and expanded team of vendors to support--then you belong over on our Weddings page.

+ When do you recommend we plan to elope in the PNW?

We encourage our couples to elope during the week. Prices are better, competition for artists and services is less severe, and there are fewer people around to mess with the vibe. If you want to elope in nature and plan for sunshine, we recommend a day in the months of July through mid-September for the best possible weather. That said, we love a seasonal theme and any couple that is down for snow or shoulder season weather is a couple we also want to work with.

+ What destinations outside of the Pacific Northwest do you offer?

If you can dream it, we can build it. We've created elopement proposals for destinations all over the West Coast, select destinations on the East Coast, Mexico, Italy, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, and Spain. We know how to resource the best experience, when to tap into local experts, and where to look for professionals to support your vision. We look forward to seeing where our couples will take us next!

THE TAPESTRY EXPERIENCE

Deep and authentic human connection is our thing, which is why we become trusted friends and advocates of yours in the year leading up to your big day. Our priority is to “get you” — to understand the details that light you up and the moments that make you pause and take a deep breath — and to weave all those moments into your celebration.

When you work with us, you won’t be stuck in your inbox. The Tapestry way of planning an elopement is focused on the passion points and details that bring you joy, and that's exactly how we spend our planning time together. Not only do we have your back on the "to do's" that make a marriage, we also ask the questions that keep us focused on your values and let those lead your investment decisions. We honor your time, direct your energy, and inject a whole lot of fun along the way. We take pride in being your local guides and logistical experts so that you can compartmentalize the planning process and continue LIVING.

THE TAPESTRY PROCESS

We are careful about matching you to your best planning support package so that we know how to show up as your best project managers. When you come on board, you’ll receive a custom planning portal and get enrolled in a series of communications to participate effectively in the process. We meet regularly on key topics like location selection, vendor vetting + management, event design, timeline, day-of details, and so much more. Our services help you strategize your celebration scope, allocate your budget, define your aesthetic, pick vendors you love, and map out your day or your weekend. Our art lies in our ability to open up your creative vision, translate your ideas into action, and create an authentic celebration experience for you and your loved one. We organize your to-do’s AND invite you into an experience that leaves you feeling more deeply connected to your partner and your purpose for getting married. Most importantly, we top it all off with eager and enthusiastic event execution.

OUR VALUES

We are rabble-rousing tradition-shapers, and we want to know your brand of weird, unique, and creative when it comes to your elopement and ceremony. You don't hire us to turn you into something you aren't; you hire us to celebrate who you already are and to make that available to the people you love. We welcome, fully support, and CELEBRATE all LGBTQ+ forms of love and relationships. We embrace couples from all cultures, religions, abilities, and backgrounds and always look forward to the learning and creativity in these experiences. We are passionate about showing respect to Mother Nature and the native peoples on whose unceded land we are holding ceremonies and gatherings.

SAFETY + INCLUSION

We are not exclusively an adventure wedding and elopement company. While we are passionate about the outdoors, we are primarily a planning company that works in unique and meaningful spaces that may or may not take place in an outdoor venue. We are unavailable to plan events that do not consider the safety and abilities of all guests. We only work with couples who support a safe and inclusive experience for all involved. Safety and inclusion efforts may look like (but certainly aren’t limited to) communicating event expectations to your guests, setting boundaries for healthy gatherings, creating policies to address potentially-troublesome behaviors, and checking in to ensure enthusiastic participation.
